this is the caricature of a friend of mine, sam harkouse, a regge musician from US. he loves, and believes he is a pirate, and he calls himself 'CAPTAIN SAM'. anyway, that was good enough for me to start a caricature of him, ofcourse with the pirate attire..!! still working on it.

The final copy of the character design.

"Alias sketch book" is the closest digital tool to pencil. this sketch is done with that. like any other digital application, the best option you would find is 'undo' (cntrl+z)..!! still working on it.

An illustration done for a play school. photoshop is fun to work with, though manual painting is the best...for me..!!

designing characters are always challenging...i really enjoy doing them..

this statue was done for the screening of the movie 'SPIRIT'. i insist that my students must see movies, as they are filmmakers.

various genre of movies are screened from the beginning of their studies, to instill the sense of film language. i personally believe 'film language' is not some subject that one can learn overnight.
by the way, the statue was done with newspapers and took about three days.

there is a lot to learn from the nature...always...!!

this is how it would appear once the light is on..!!

i was lucky enough to work along with mr. ISHU PATEL, an indian born animation director, now settled in canada. his films are very artistic and thought provoking. he also experiments with a verity of mediums such as BEADS, PLASTEZINE etc.
in my institute it is customary that students watch a lot of films, not only the main stream films, but experimental films as well. they also encouraged to experiment with as many mediums as they can.
this was an experiment done with plastezine to experience ISHU's technique, he used plastezine on a glass table with a light underneath, which produced a unique look to the film. i have done this to show case ISHU's Oscar nominated film 'TOP PRIORITY'.

these are taken by a student, while i was taking the constructive anatomy classes.

these are a few snaps from my clay modeling classes. students develop a greater sense of 'dimension' as a result of doing sculpting, where they could actually "feel" the depth.

these pictures are from my sculpting classes. these classes are right after the anatomy studies, and intented to instill a sence of "moulding" and "deapth" in their drawing.
